President Bodor was honored by being inducted into the Sheriff's Honor Corps by Donald B. Smith at the April 22nd, 2015 Seminar for his thirty years as president of the PNWFPA.

On Sunday, September 7th, 2014, the Patterson FD celebrated, Life Member Ed Centofante's 90th birthday at a surprise party where he was promoted to the rank of Honorary Chief. He is the first department member to be so honored in the department's 93 year history. As an additional honor, "Chief" Centofante was summoned to appear before a full meeting of the Putnam County Legislature on Tuesday, October 7th, 2014, to receive a proclamation recognizing his dedication and continuing service as one of the oldest active firefighters in the county.

Members of the Putnam County Fire Police Response Team appeared before a full meeting of the County Legislature to receive a proclamation recognizing the 20th Anniversary of their formation as a specialized unit of the Bureau of Emergency Services. Accepting the award was Honorary Captain Bill Keating, Captain John Bodor, Lieutenants Tom Filecco and Dan Hill and Coordinator, Chief Doug Casey.

On the occasion of Tom Filecco's (PNWFPA Vice President) retirement, Sheriff Donald B. Smith presented him with a certificate inducting him into the Sheriff's Honor Corps.




PNWFPA President John Bodor was honored at regular monthly meeting of the Putnam County Legislature, as the recipient of the 2012 Michael E. Neuner Fire Prevention & Safety Award. Bodor is a retired public school teacher who for many years has served as Patterson Fire Department Fire Prevention Committee Chairman. He is Patterson's Fire Police Lt., and is a Life Member with forty-three years service. John Bodor also is the present captain of the Putnam County Fire Police Response Team.



Richard Jackob PNWFPA Member and President of the Volunteer Fire Police Association of Dutchess County was the recipient of the 2012 Ken Merriman Fire Police Officer of the Year Award.

PNWFPA member Robert Ruston, formerly a VFPASNY State Director and currently Chairman of Region 2, was honored by U.S. Congresswoman Nan Hayworth during a May 2012 ceremony conducted at the Putnam County Bureau of Emergency Services. Bob, was presented a US Congress Special Congressional Commendation for his achievements, services, and multitude of activities throughout the fire and emergency services.


Richard Jackob was honored as Firefighter of the Year (2010) by the East Fishkill Fire Police Association and was presented a taped up make-shift plaque reportedly due to department budget restraints. After the initial shock (and some merriment) the "real" plaque was presented.



PNWFPA Vice President Tom Filecco was honored at the Lake Carmel Fire Department’s 2010 Instillation Dinner where he was awarded a white helmet, along with the title of Honorary Chief of the Department, for his many years of dedicated service. Tom presently serves as LCFD's fire police lieutenant and a lieutenant of the Putnam County Fire Police Response Team.


The 2009 Woodman Award also recognized two outstanding PNWFPA members. Edward Centofante, (Patterson FD, Fire Police Foreman), and Bob Ruston, (Somers FD, Fire Police Officer). Each received the coveted award which was announced at their '09 Convention.


PNWFPA Vice President Tom Filecco (Lt. Lake Carmel FDFP) was the 2007 recipient of the George E. Woodman Memorial Award presented by the Volunteer Fire Police Association of the State of New York for outstanding service to fire police and the community.


Member Rich Pepe, Continental Village FD, was also honored as "Fireman of the Year" at his department's December 2007 meeting.


PNWFPA Member Robert Ruston, Somers FD, was recognized by the Vol. Fire Police Assn. of Dutchess County as "Fire Police Officer of the Year". He was also awarded the Larchland Miller Memorial Award by WCVFA, and was awarded the title of "Honorary Sheriff Detective" by Dutchess County Sheriff Butch Anderson at the Volunteer Fire Police Association of Dutchess County Annual Dinner on 9/20/07.


In addition to many awards bestowed on PNWFPA members by their individual departments throughout the years, at the Volunteer Fire Police Association of Dutchess County Annual Installation Dinner in October 2005, President John Bodor was presented with the 1st Annual Hugh "Red" Stanton Award for his contribution to the fire police service. President Bodor (Patterson FD) also was the recipient the 2002 Annual Ken Merriman Memorial Award at the Hudson Valley Volunteer Fireman's Association's 113th Annual Convention held at Lake George making him the second PNWFPA Member to be so honored. Our first member to receive the award in 1995 was FPO John Ortiz (Mahopac FD). Bill Keating (Mahopac FD) Captain of both the Mahopac Fire Police Squad and the Putnam County Fire Police Response Team, became the third member to receive the award in 2006.
Many members of the PNWFPA presently hold various offices and positions in their respective departments as well as in many firematic organizations. We are particularly proud of members Richard P. Jackob, who is President of the Volunteer Fire Police Association of Dutchess County. Members Carl J. Catalanotto, New Fairfield FD, is President and Jim Belote, Ridgefield FD, is 2nd VP of the Connecticut Fire Police Association. Jim is also the Coordinator for Fairfield County.
