On New Year’s Eve, just as a snow storm was winding down, the Putnam County Fire Police Response Team was requested to assist the Garrison FD and the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office at a homicide investigation in Garrison. The victim, John Marcinak, owner of the Garrison Garage and a member of Garrison FD, was found along Rt. 9 and initially thought to have been hit by a car. At the hospital, it was later determined he had been shot several times. The team closed a section Rt. 9 and was on duty for about eight hours while the PCSO completed their investigation. The "Team" again visited the Brewster Fire District to assist their fire police at a recovery of a completely submerged car in a river that borders Route 22 south of the Village just over the Westchester County line. The driver, apparently uninjured, swam to shore and..."went home"! 10/15/08 |

The Putnam County Fire Police Team was requested by Brewster FD to shut down the road at the scene of a burst pressure hose on a 500 gal. propane tank at the De La Paz Garden Center on Route 22 around 7:45 pm. Over 100 people from the adjoining stores, motel, and gas stations were evacuated until the gas was shut off. An estimated 300 gal. was spilled. 10/14/08 |

On June 3rd, 2008 the Putnam County Fire Police Response Team was requested by the Brewster Fire Dept. to assist their fire police at a car vs. train crash at the Dykeman RR Crossing on Route 312. There were no major injuries but 312 was closed for several hours. At the team meeting on the 9th, as is customary, a critique of the call was held. 06/03/08 |

The Putnam County Fire Police Response Team was requested around 24:00 hrs. to assist the Lake Carmel Fire Police in closing Towners Road for over seven hours while multiple departments fought a fire at the Towne & Country Discount Liquor & Wine store located at 86 Towners.
Kent police are investigating a report from the owner who managed to escape the blaze, that four men tied him up with cable wires, stole money and other merchandise, and set the store ablaze and leaving him to die. |

The Putnam Co. Fire Police Response Team was requested to assist the Mahopac Fire Police and CPD, Sheriff's Department, and the New York State Police, with traffic and crowd control at the Putnam County Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade along Route 6.

The Putnam County Fire Police Team was requested by the Brewster FD to assist their fire police with traffic and scene security at the Rt. 22 & I-684 overpass and Sodom Road in Southeast, to assist the search for a man who stopped his car on the bridge and jumped approximately 100' into the Croton River. The search was hampered by the rapidly moving swollen stream, and darkness, and was called off after several hours. The body of the man was recovered the following morning after NYCDEP officials lowered the stream's water level.

The Putnam County Fire Police Team was called, along with several other Putnam departments, to assist Patterson at the scene of a 5:30 AM structure fire on Ballyhack Road. The house up a hill approximately 100 yards east of Route 22 necessitated a tanker shuttle and placing the pool in the north-bound lane.

The Putnam County Fire Police Team relieve Cold Spring & N. Highlands FD in closing northbound Route 9 at 301 for a fatal crash of a Utz snack food truck with a large dump truck hauling stone ¼ miles north of the Putnam Line. Rombout FD responded to the Fishkill crash which caused the closing of Route 9 from 2:15 to after 8:00 PM.

For the second time within two weeks, the Putnam County Fire Police Team was activated for traffic control in Carmel at the funeral of Cold Spring Police K9 Sgt. Darrell J. Burris, who was killed in a car crash on November 15th.

Over 20 Putnam County Fire Police Team Members along with additional fire police from Putnam and Dutchess Counties were deployed on November 10th & 11th, 2007 at the request of Carmel FD. They were needed to supplement local police agencies at the LOD wake and funeral of Carmel firefighter/EMT Lt. Matthew Lamb who was killed last week when the ambulance he was riding in crashed. The hundreds of mourners in the funeral procession necessitated closing the section of Route 52 that passes through the center of the Village of Carmel along with several other local roads.
